Reactive Locking Patch
Adhesives
Adhesive reactive locking patches can provide a low installation assembly torque while still providing a high-strength chemical adhesion after full cure.
Pre-applied Adhesives
The pre-applied adhesives the Anochrome Group can offer are considered desirable as the materials are typically anaerobic, and clearly visible, with the material positioned in a full 360-degree circumferential band around the threads. After coating the parts are dry to touch and ready for use.
When the fastener is rotated against its mating part, the capsules within the adhesive are ruptured, releasing material in and around the thread flanks providing a chemical locking bond.
Since the adhesive coating is pre-applied, assembly time for these fasteners is substantially less than for applied-in-place coatings but the locking bond remains consistent.
Single-use Application
Pre-applied chemical locking fasteners are designed for single-use ‘fit-and-forget’ applications and are not recommended for re-usability. This is because the re-locking action requires an amount of reusable adhesive on the bolt after the first installation. Most engineering designs specify one installation before the bolt must be re-coated or replaced.
These materials are liquid-based. Using our bespoke application equipment, the product can be applied to various positions and dimensions to suit application-specific requirements.
This precision process means tight tolerances on patch position is achievable.
The Anochrome Group offers a wide range of reactive locking patches, including:
Precote® 30, 80, 85 (other variants are available).
ND Industries ND1193-S.
Each product offers a distinct combination of properties, sealing capacities, and
temperature ranges. We can therefore satisfy almost all current OEM specifications and drawing requirements.
