Thread Protection & Masking

Specialist Thread Masking with omniMASK®

Inlex – part of the Anochrome family of companies – offers specialist thread protection and masking services using omniMASK®, a high-performance FEP fluoropolymer powder coating designed to prevent the adhesion of weld spatter, electrodeposited coatings, E-coating or KTL, primers and paintings.

This reliable advanced masking technology is available globally and trusted across automotive and industrial manufacturing supply chains.

We apply omniMASK® to both bolts and internally threaded steel nuts, including standard weld nuts, square, hexagonal, hexagonal flange and round nuts, from M6 to M14.

The coating is selectively applied to internal or external threaded parts, creating a durable, dry-to-touch protective layer that remains intact through welding and coating stages.

omniMASK® is composed of 98% Teflon® and supports good electrical grounding. It is available in white for easy visual identification during assembly.

Performance Benefits

omniMASK® prevents the build-up of unwanted coatings on threads, reducing overall manufacturing costs in several ways.

First, it eliminates the need for time-consuming and expensive re-tapping to remove paint and weld spatter.

The costly process of installing and removing caps and plugs is removed, along with the use of slave bolts or sacrificial bolts.

This streamlining ensures reduced scrap and increased productivity on the assembly line, improving the bottom line.

omniMASK® maintains joint integrity by allowing metal-to-metal contact under clamp load, while also reducing torque-tension variation during assembly.

Thanks to its low melting temperature, it can also be applied to zinc-nickel plated parts with minimal impact on salt spray resistance.
