Nylon Locking Patches
Anti-vibration locking patches from the Anochrome Group are widely used to prevent threaded fasteners, screws and bolts from coming loose due to vibration.
When applied, the inert nylon patch is permanently fused onto the screw thread. This allows it to be locked in position on assembly via a physical wedging action.
This re-usable process is popular in many industrial applications because of its obvious visual presence and its ability to lock fasteners in the desired position.
This is particularly useful when a single-use permanent solution, like thread-locking adhesive, is not needed.
Nylon 11 is a lightweight material that provides good locking strength and is highly resistant to wear. Its durability makes it highly suited for machinery exposed to demanding environments. Choosing the right type and size of locking patch is critical to its performance and long-term success.
How Patches are Applied
Utilising our bespoke application equipment, the parts can be held (horizontally or vertically) and passed through an induction heating system. We then apply a controlled, localised heat band, warming components to around 200 degrees Celsius. Nylon powder is then accurately applied by spray and fused into place.
Locking patches are suitable for a range of headed components, studs, plugs and similar-sized parts. At Inlex we can apply the coating to both ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including steel, aluminium, stainless steel and brass.
Non-ferrous parts need to be free from any surface contaminants, which could result in torque variation.
180° Locking Patch
The 180-degree anti-vibration locking patch is a coloured nylon 11 feature, permanently fused to the screw thread. This provides excellent vibration resistance and torque performance for all applications requiring controlled loading and re-usability by way of a wedging effect as it is instantly usable.
This makes it ideal for applications where subsequent adjustment of the fastener is needed.
360° Locking Patch
The 360-degree nylon anti-vibration locking patch also gives full-circumference coverage. This will fill any voids giving a locking and a limited sealing effect.
