precote® 85
High-strength, heat-resistant thread coating with controlled friction
precote® 85, precote® 85-3 and precote® 85-8 are varnish-like, solvent-free coating systems based on microencapsulated acrylates. They are designed for sealing and locking threaded parts. Once dry, the film is tack-free and non-sticky. During assembly, compressive and shear forces break the microcapsules, releasing the components so they mix and harden.
Application
All versions of precote® 85 are high-strength thread-locking coatings with controlled friction. They provide a reliable locking effect, even at high temperatures and can be used on external and internal threads.
precote® 85: PFAS-free and suitable for threads greater than M6 with pitches greater than 1 mm.
precote® 85-3: Provides accelerated curing for threads greater than M6 and produces a yellow UV marker visible under UV light.
precote® 85-8: Suitable for threads less than or equal to M6 and pitches less than or equal to M10 × 1. It produces a white UV marker visible under UV light.
After complete curing, the physical data and chemical resistance of precote® 85-3 and precote® 85-8 match those of the standard precote® 85 version.
Uses
The coating is suitable for a wide range of assembly processes, particularly serial production.
Typical application areas include electronics, two-wheel vehicles, the automotive industry, household appliances, office machines, the computer industry, electric motors and e-mobility.
Properties
- precote® 85 and precote® 85-8 exceed the required values of DIN 267-27 after 6 hours of curing at room temperature. The fast-curing precote® 85-3 exceeds these values after 30 minutes
